Sarah Ash, James Barclay and I visited Sevenoaks' stunning new library for an evening of discussion hosted by librarian Philip Schofield. The event took place in one of the library's new art galleries, where a lively audience participated from the start. The topic under discussion was the question: 'Fantasy: is it just dragons, elves and silly names?', culled by Sarah from a Guardian review of the film Eragon. Both the audience and the writers enjoyed the event, books were bought and there was an enthusiastic take up of The Write Fantastic's sampler booklet and our new recommended reads leaflet.

On a wet October Thursday evening, Juliet McKenna, Jessica Rydill and myself met in my home town of Bromley at the kind invitation of Luke Redfern of Ottakar’s Bookshop and of the local Library. An enthusiastic audience listened with interest to our thoughts on reading and writing fantasy fiction and asked many pertinent questions. The staff from Ottakar’s stage-managed the event with their usual expertise and books were signed and sold to round off an enjoyable evening for all concerned.
